  • carried out anti-shipping strikes off the Norwegian coast, 10.1944
  • strikes on Norwegian coast, the sqdn destroying one troopship and damaging 4 other ships, late 11.1944
  • in command of detachment of the sqdn on escort carrier HMS Pretoria Castle for deck landing training activities prior to the squadron boarding for the British Pacific Fleet later in the month, 3.1945
  • died on escort carrier HMS Pretoria in Scotland 6.3.1945

  • took part in oiperations off Norway, including night attacks on Trondheim and Tromso 
  • provided escort convoy duties ferrying aircraft to the Gold Coast, 2.1941
  • took part in the search for the german battleship Bismarck from HMS Victorious, the battleship being sunk 26.5.1941 
  • provided anti-sumarine defence for Malta Convoys, HMS Ark Royal, 6.1941
  • involved in attacking targets in Pantellaria, Sardinia and Sicily, 9.1941 
  • survived torpedoing and sinking of HMS Ark Royal by U-81, 13.11.1942
  • Led strike against German Fleet led by German battleships Scharnhorst and Gneisenau in the English Channel. Shot down and killed. Awarded VC, 12.2.1942 (825 sqdn)
