-operated under RAF Coastal Command to carry out operations off the Dutch coast and French ports, 3.1941
- took part in Malta convoys ferrying RAF aircraft, HMS Furious, 6.1941
- survived the torpedoing of HMS Ark Royal near Gibraltar, 13.11.1941 
- seniority 6.1949 (C)

- involved in the search for the German battleship Bismarck in the Atlantic, 5.1941
- completed command of 810 sqdn by convoy escort to Jamaica, 9.1941
- first co of 835 sqdn at Palisadoes, Jamaica
- remained with the sqdn till it joined HMS Furious in 4.1942
