Casson, J Lt Cdr and Fanshawe, PE Lt, 803 skua 13.6.40. Shot down after dive bombing attack on German battleship Scharnhorst at Trondheim, crashed Stjornfjord, Fosen. Both captured by the Germans and taken POW Peter "Hornblower" Fanshawe, a Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm pilot whilst POW at Stalag Luft III was a member of the "Great Escape" Executive Commitee.

Fanshawe was the real sand dispersal specialist at Luft III.  The method of sand
disposal shown in the film is an exact match for the real events.  Fanshawe was transferred to Belaria shortly before the escape.

He was played by David McCallum in The feature film about events in Luft III in the "Great Escape" which was made by the Mirish Company and released in 1963. (see link)

Bentley, P Lt [P Fauvet] and Mays, AHG Lt 811 sqdn both POWs 9.8.1942 FTR after minelaying south of Den Helder. Thought to have collided with Swordfish DK751 in which Whitelaw-Wilson, IH Sub Lt and Townend, RR Sub Lt were both killed.. Taken POW by the Germans. German POW 1945

Filmer, CH Lt and McKee, TA Mid 803 skua sqdn. On 13.6.40 was shot down by 3 Ju88 after divebombing attack on German battleship Scharnhorst. Force landed at Byneset, Trondheim. Both taken POW. German POW 1945

Forth, RW Sub Lt, Reeks, WA Sub Lt and L/A CG Gordon of 848 avenger sqdn. FTR on 20.4.1945 HMS Formidable, glide bombing attack with 4x400lb bombs on an airfield on Ishigaki, shot down, landed in sea 10 miles off island, rescued by a US navy mariner after 72 hrs in dinghy.  POW?

Fraser, ID Sub Lt and Mid MW Barbour, 828 albacore sqdn. FTR Hal Far, Malta on 24/25.3.1943 from an armed night search, ditched NW of Trefani. Crew spent 6 days in dinghy, both taken POW. 

Barbour died 1/2 day after being picked up on 30.3.43
