Operational History and Background

The squadron formed at Lee-on-Solent as an amphibian bomber reconnaissance squadron with 6 Sea Otters in February 1945.

In April 1945 the squadron embarked on HMS Begum for the Far East, to join Mobile Naval Air Bases for air sea rescue duties.
In May 1945 B Flight joined MONAB No 4 at Ponam, and thence embarked on HMS Reaper in October 1945.

In June 1945 A Flight disembarked at Maryborough to join MONAB No 6 were it was still stationed at VJ-Day.
