Operational History and Background

The squadron officially formed at Brunswick in February 1945 as a fighter squadron with 18 Corsair IVs, embarking in HMS Patroller for the UK in May 1945.

The squadron worked up at Belfast and Eglington, but the plan to join the 18th Carrier Air Group in the British Pacific Fleet was cancelled after VJ-Day, and the squadron disbanded at the end of August 1945.
