Operational History and Background

The squadron formed at Bursburgh as a night fighter squadron with 12 Firefly Is in January 1945, and was re-equipped with Firefly INFs with ASH radar in May 1945.

In June 1945 the squadron embarked on HMS Vindex arriving at Schofields two days before VJ-day.
